Larry Gail Adams, 69, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born December 8, 1956, to Bill and Nelda Adams. Larry passed peacefully on February 6, 2026. Growing up between his older brother, Garry, and younger sister, Jo Ann, he learned early how to stand his ground, speak his mind, and care fiercely for the people he loved.
He graduated from Comanche High School in 1975 and continued learning throughout his life, picking up skills wherever he could and putting them to use for family, friends, and anyone who needed a hand. Adams Garage became the foundation of his lifelong career as a mechanic, a place where he built not only a living but a reputation for honesty, hard work, and know-how.
Larry was a devoted father to his two children, Roy Adams and the late Jennifer Self. Becoming a grandfather only deepened his joy. Jennifer and her husband, Tyler, had four children Lynnlea, Rheagan, Eli, and Ezra, while Roy and his wife, Channing, were blessed with Chambers and Emma. Each grandchild brought him pride, laughter, and an abundance of happiness.
Anchored by faith and armed with a sense of humor that never faded, Larry faced lifelong health challenges with grit. He worked hard, gave generously, and refused to let physical limitations define him. When he couldn't do the heavy lifting, he supervised with enthusiasm - offering instructions, teasing whoever was within earshot, and making sure things were done right. He volunteered to run the sound board at church, though some suspected he secretly enjoyed the perks of being a back-row Baptist.
Sundays found him faithfully at Liberty Baptist Church. Weekday mornings often found him at Meridian Kwik Mart, coffee in hand, solving the world's problems with whoever pulled up a chair. He lived by Scripture, but always left room for a little mischief-just enough to keep life interesting.
Though Larry spent nearly his entire life within a quarter-mile stretch of Tucker Road, his influence reached far beyond it. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and understood. Now free from the limits of his earthly body, we can imagine him already offering advice in Heaven-confident, good-natured, and smiling playing cards while he does it.
He is survived by his son, Roy Adams, and wife, Channing; grandchildren Chambers and Emma; son-in-law, Tyler Self; grandchildren Lynnlea, Rheagan, Eli, and Ezra; sister, Jo Ann Solomon; brother, Garry Adams, and wife, Cindy; niece, Linda James (Bobby); niece, Tonya Galvan; niece, Crystal Cloud; niece, Amanda Standridge (Bobby); niece, Sandra Kraus (J.R.); niece, Lacey Torrez; and many other nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nelda Adams, and his beloved daughter, Jennifer Self. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a community made better by his presence.
