Larry Roland Gay was born October 12, 1950 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Roland W. and Jo Anne (Walker) Gay. He completed life's journey on May 17, 2021 in Oklahoma City. He was 70.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 19, 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at 2:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Leu, Travis Gay, Justin Lindsey, Rowdy Anthony, Brian Gay and Charlie Gay. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and co-workers at Barrett Trailers. Interment will be at Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Larry graduated from Duncan High School in 1968 and then attended OU for a brief period. He was employed as a trailer salesperson at Barrett Trailer Manufacturing until his retirement after 25 years. He enjoyed OU football and going fishing. He was famous for smoking and grilling brisket, ribs, pulled pork and hamburgers on his special grill that was built for him in Houston. Larry enjoyed watching his grandchildren in high school athletics and with their FFA projects. He was constantly supportive of his dad, Roland, during his illness. He loved living at Clear Creek Lake and taking vacations to Branson and Isla Majures, Mexico with his wife, Suzie, after their marriage in June 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Gay and JoAnne Gay; sister, Debbie Parks; grandson, Luke Gay; and first wife, Claudia Gay.
Larry is survived by his wife, Suzie; children: Chris Gay and wife Danielle; Matthew Gay and wife Katie; Rebecca Stout and husband Chris; Laura McPherson and William Yale; Jeff Stevens and wife Paula; Michael Stevens and wife Joey; 22 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers: Robert Grady Gay and wife Janet; Joe Bob Henley, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen; stepmother, Jerri Henley-Gay; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
