Larry Richard Payne

Larry Richard Payne was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on September 28, 1939, to Walker and Kathryn (London) Payne. He passed away in Lawton on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the age of 83.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 14, at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Pastor Ron Meador officiating. Private Inurnment service will take place at a later date in the Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Larry graduated from Excelsior High School in 1959. He then joined the Army and served from 1960-1963. He married Jerrie Hill on August 23, 1960. Together, they welcomed two children, Tracy and Brian. He worked as a field engineer for National Cash Register.

He loved fishing and enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and baseball. Larry also enjoyed playing guitar and grilling out. He was an active member of Bethel Church and the Chickasaw Senior Center. Larry loved to visit with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings, Larry is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Jerrie; daughter, Tracy and husband Gary Summers of Frisco, Texas; son, Brian and wife Leigh Payne of Southaven, Mississippi; grandchildren: Brandon, Heather, Clairissa, and Olivia; brother, Patrick and wife Debbie Payne of Shawnee, Oklahoma; sister, Nova Collier of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
