Laura Montgomery Obituary
Laura Frances Montgomery was born March 3, 1945, in Greenville, Mississippi to Elwayne and Jennie Lee (Moore) Davis. She met her Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2020, in Oklahoma City, with her loving family by her side.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Laura was raised in Mississippi, attending Benoit Public Schools and graduating from Greenville High School. She married the love of her life, Boyd Wayne Montgomery, on October 24, 1969, in Greenville, and soon after they moved to the family farm in Oklahoma. They had 4 daughters – Cheryl, Cindy, Leslie, and Erica.
She worked for Empire Public Schools for 20 years, initially as the school librarian and then as the high school secretary. After retirement in 2000, they began to travel and Laura served as President for their fifth wheel club, Oklahoma Excel Plus, for several years. Laura enjoyed doing crafts, painting and playing cards with her traveling buddies. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
Laura is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Boyd; children: Cheryl Montgomery of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Cindy and husband Joe Robinson of Bray, Leslie and husband David Bridges of Empire, Erica and husband Gerald Stuck of Empire; grandchildren: Michael Cramton, Brittany Cramton, Chance and wife Shelby Bridges, Cole Bridges, Austin Stuck, Brianna Stuck; and sister, Julia ‘Judy’ Stephens of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Buddy Davis.
