Lloyd Scifres Obituary
Lloyd Noel Scifres was born February 28, 1943 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Lois and Lloyd Joel Scifres. He passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Oklahoma City at the age of 78.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with minister Leonard Keele officiating, assisted by Brother Everett Bedford. Inurnment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Lloyd graduated from Duncan High School followed by studies at Murray State College and Oklahoma State University. He served six years in the Army Reserves. On September 16, 1971 he married Judy Boyd and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family and friends.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
He worked at Halliburton for 38 years in the Pump Shop and then moved to Flowmeters and to NuFlo, where he retired after 40 years of service. In 2007 substitute teaching became his next position which he held for 12 years at Duncan Public Schools, especially at Emerson Elementary where he loved his time with the students. He enjoyed doing lawn work for the Compassion Center and neighbors who were in need. Lloyd was a master storyteller who was a never-ending source of fun and humor. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved and collected Case pocketknives and his son, Tim, gave them to him for his birthdays.
Lloyd was a member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ for 40 years. He was an exemplary man of God. One of his greatest wishes was that his children and grandchildren attend church regularly ... following his example. He was also a loyal and dedicated friend and loved serving others.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd is survived by his wife, Judy; children: Timothy Don and wife Marisa Scifres of Duncan, Tony Kent Scifres of Tulsa; grandchildren: Candice Hammond, Daimen Scifres, Tiffany Scifres and significant other Cody Bentley, Taylor Scifres, Tamara Scifres; great grandchildren: Brylynn Grace, Jaylen Wiggins, Weston Bentley; great-great grandchild, Sterling Grace; and sister: Nelda Scifres of Ada, Janis and husband Clint Fowler of Tulsa.
