Lonny Phelps Obituary

Lonny Dale Phelps, of Comanche, Oklahoma, was born October 22, 1950 in Duncan to Woodie Doyle and Ruth (Pope) Phelps. He passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in Duncan at the age of 71.

The family will greet visitors on Sunday, January 9, between 2:00-4:00PM at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 10, at 2:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home with Rev. Terra Sisco officiating. A live stream of Lonny's chapel service will be available by visiting his obituary at www.whittfh.com. Serving as pallbearers will be Nik Kammerer, Cole Dill, Cassie Stovers, Aden Hutto, Maci Lane, and Devon Lane. Interment will follow at Comanche's Fairlawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Lonny graduated from Comanche High School with the Class of 1969 and then attended Cameron University for a short time. He was employed with Duncan Equipment as a salesman of industrial supplies for 42 years. He made many friends during his career.

Lonny was a very friendly and personable man who believed having fun was the priority. He was very passionate about music and enjoyed attending concerts. He also played in a band for several years. He enjoyed reading and watching anything about history. Lonny had a great respect for life of all living things and enjoyed being outdoors.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy; niece, Toni Phelps Harsh; and nephew, Chris Phelps, Lonny is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Maxine Sweeney; son, Daniel Phelps of Oregon; stepson, Jody Sweeney of Duncan; stepdaughter, Jessi Sweeney of Duncan; grandchildren: Jazmine Horne, Jessica Hill, Hunter Phelps, Lucas Phelps, all of Oregon; step grandchildren: Aden Hutto, Maci Lane, Devon Lane, all of Duncan; brothers, Johnny and wife Sammye Phelps, Terry and wife Terri Phelps; sister, Verna and husband Carl Johns; sisters-in-law, Gayle Kammerer husband Bob, Melba Lee; and nieces: Sara Phelps, Tresa Phelps, Cassie Stovers; nephews: Nic Kammerer, Cole Dill.
