Louie Earnest Schumacher was born August 22, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to T.F. and Charlotte (Coats) Schumacher. His life’s journey ended on March 4, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. He was 91.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, March 6, from 5:30-7:00P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, at 1:00P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Louie was a graduate of Webster High School in Tulsa. He married the love of his life, Joy Marvene Wagnon, on June 10, 1949, in Waurika. To this union two daughters – Suellen and Melissa – were born.
His first job was with Skelly Oil Company – Sunray Refinery in Duncan. He then moved to Halliburton, where he worked as a draftsman until he retired. Louie also worked as a bus driver for Duncan Public Schools, as a greeter at Wal-Mart, and at the Chisholm Trail Casino. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Duncan, where he received his 44-year pins. He also was a member of the Shriners and always drove a Tin Lizzie in the local parades. He enjoyed watching Thunder basketball and playing golf. He was always active in church – serving as a deacon, on the offering committee, and as Santa Claus at many local functions.
Louie is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marvene; daughters, Suellen McAllister of Seattle, Washington, Melissa and husband Jimmy Ingraham of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Josh and wife Erin McAllister and Jessica and husband Chris McLain of Seattle, Tyler and Holly Ingraham of Oklahoma City; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.F. and Charlotte Schumacher; brothers: David, Calvin, Cecil, Frank and August Schumacher; sister, Dura Coleman; and son-in-law, Stan McAllister.
