Lucien D. Rose, of Duncan, OK, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. He was born in Carthage, Texas, on February 2, 1942, to Lucien and Margie Rose. Lucien's life was a testament to dedication, learning and love.

A lifelong learner and devoted professional, Lucien earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Medical Psychology, a field in which he would dedicate his professional life. In 1973, he joined the staff of The Community Mental Health Clinic in Oklahoma City as its Director. Two years later he joined the faculty of the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. In 1977, he joined the Oklahoma City Clinic, a large, multispecialty medical group practice, as Chief of the Department of Behavioral Medicine. In 1986 he was appointed the Clinic's Medical Director. Lucien retired in 1998 to pursue his lifelong dream of traveling, exploring the world with the same curiosity and zest that defined his approach to life.

Lucien was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gerri; his parents; his sister, Susan Beaird; and his brother, Arlo. He is survived by his former wife, Winifred Bailey and her husband Jerry; their daughters, Shannon Rose and Shelly Rose; his cherished granddaughters, Taylor Eaton and her husband, Wes; Bailey Hoffman and her husband, Dakota; Sydney Moser; and Tomi Moser; and his great-granddaughter, Aspen Marie Eaton. Lucien is also survived by his former wife, Judy Rose; brother-in-law, Tom Beaird; his nephew, Andrew Beaird and his wife, Katie; and his niece, Jillian Beaird, and their children. He is also survived by his partner and soul mate, Kathy Gibson, with whom he shared the last years of his life.

Lucien often expressed gratitude for the close relationship he shared with Winifred and Jerry. He was grateful for Jerry's role as a co-father to their daughters, saying, "It takes both of us!" This sentiment reflects the depth of his love and the generosity of his spirit.

Beyond his professional and familial roles, Lucien was a man of many passions. He found joy in sailing, mountain biking, hiking, rollerblading, and immersing himself in music and books. Yet, above all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends, whose love and companionship enriched his life immeasurably.

Lucien's life was rooted in gratitude and guided by a deep sense of purpose. He often spoke of the joy he found in his relationships. He was well aware that he was not a "self-made man", frequently expressing his heartfelt appreciation for those who generously taught, supported and inspired him on his personal, educational, professional, and spiritual journeys. He felt he learned something from every person he got to know and gave his daughters credit for all he learned from them. He believed the essence of life is to grow as a spiritual being, and he found immense happiness in progressing along his path.

Lucien's legacy is one of compassion, wisdom, and a profound commitment to being helpful to others. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

We will gather to celebrate Lucien's life on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Duncan, with Rev. Mark Jardine officiating.
