Lura Mae Bradley Obituary

Lura Mae (Barnett) Bradley was a Christmas gift, born December 24, 1930 to Ella and J. B. Barnett in Agawam. When she was three, they moved to a farm east of Walters on Highway 65.

Lura attended school in Hulen and graduated from Walters High School. In 1949, she married Donald Ray Bradley. In 1950, their first son Gary Don was born in Borger, TX. In 1952, a second son Timothy Ray was born in Lawton, OK. In 1956, their only daughter Sarita Lynn was born in Andrews, TX.

After the children were in school, Lura went to work in Canton, TX where they then lived. She worked through the years at car dealerships such as Bus Horton Ford in Oklahoma City and her final work adventure was at McClain's RV both in Oklahoma City and Corinth, TX. She worked closely with Larry McClain until his death.

Lura had two brothers, Clifford Barnett and Clinton (Bo) Barnett. She had four sisters: Lela Stephens, Aliene Kelling, Novellia Roberson, and sister, Patricia, who died shortly after her birth. Lura is survived only by Novellia.

She is also survived by her three children: Gary of Buncombe Creek at Lake Texhoma, Tim and his wife Martha of Oklahoma City, and Sarita Crowl of Buncombe Creek.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Doug Bradley, Andrea Johnston, Matt Crowl, Jeremy Turon, Eric Bradley, Meghan Davis, Kim James, Josh James, Michael Beattie, John Bradley and Sean Bradley. There are fourteen great-grandchildren. She had many nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Family was always her source of happiness. She believed in family and tradition. Christmas was her favorite season. She decorated her entire house usually by November 1.

Everyone knows that fishing was the sport she loved to participate in. She spent many days with family going to the islands at Buncombe Creek. She faithfully watched Texas Rangers play baseball, the OKC Thunder play basketball and she continued to stick with the Dallas Cowboys as her football team.

Preceding her death, she spoke often of "going to see Jesus." She had the knowledge that Jesus had an eternal home prepared for her.

There is no formal family visitation planned. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 21, at Letitia Cemetery with Kevin McKinley officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
