Lynda Galloway Obituary

Lynda G. Galloway, 94, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was born July 1, 1929 in Elsberry, Missouri to John Clarimond "JC" and Rebecca Norine "Reba" (Gladney) Gentry.

She graduated from Elsberry High School and then worked as a bookkeeper in the family business and at the Bank of Old Monroe in Missouri. She married Carlyle Galloway on July 1, 1948. They were married 72 years before his passing.

Lynda loved reading novels, gardening, and canning. She enjoyed baking bread and rolls. She also made excellent apple butter. She was a member of the Eastern Star with her husband and the AMARANTH organization with her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Carlyle; son Eugene Galloway; daughter Joan "Joanie" M. Galloway; and five sisters: Dasarene "Dizzy" Sitton, Eileen Smith, Isabel Luck, Ruth Bryant, and Bettye Finley.

Lynda is survived by her children: Floyd Henry Galloway, Judith "Judy" Westen and husband Phillip, John Galloway and wife Joy, Joseph "Joe" Galloway and wife Bonnie, Jayne Howard and husband Dan; daughter-in-law Carol Van Esler; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
