Margie Bowman Obituary

Margie Mae Bowman passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in Glenwood, Arkansas at the age of 98.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, at 10:00 A.M. at the Family Life Church with Pastor Donnie Miller officiating, assisted by Pastor Kip Ackley. Burial will follow at Celestial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cyril Funeral Home.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 27, from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Cyril Funeral Home.

Margie was born November 30, 1919, in Houston, TX, to Omar G. and Eva Smith. In 1925, her family moved to Mena, AR, and then again moved in 1926 to Acorn, AR. She graduated from Acorn High School in 1938. She met and married Russell Robinson in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1961. She married Henry Bowman in 1964 and they moved to Cyril, OK. She attended Full Gospel Church and was Mission Secretary for 10 years. After Henry's death in 1991, Margie started quilting with the ladies at the First Christian Church. Her favorite hobby was working crossword puzzles.

Margie was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Robinson and Henry Bowman; parents, Omar and Eva Smith; brother, Harold Lloyd Smith; sisters, Lela Lowry, Angie Hager, Sylvia Cooper, Marie Thomason, Burnice Sherwood, Jewell Woodard, and Mildred Smith; and step-children, Johnnie Ann (Bowman) Cole, Tommy and Patsy Bowman, and Jerry Bowman.

She is survived by her nieces, Loretta and husband Richard Caldwell of Hot Springs, AR, and Marjorie Brandon of Ft. Worth, TX; nephews, Vernon and wife Sherry Woodard of Murfreesboro, AR, Rodney and wife Dianne Woodard of Glenwood, AR, Robert Sherwood of Beebe, AR, and Jimmy Hager of Ft. Worth; stepson, Bill and wife Lil Bowman; step daughter-in-law, Donna Bowman; 11 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; and several great nieces and nephews.

Margie's favorite farewell greeting to everyone she met was always, “Lord Bless You.” She was a wonderful, loving, Christian woman. She was a great blessing to her family and everyone that knew her.
