Marie Burton

Marie Burton was born Nola Marie Duvall on June 18, 1923, in Duncan, Oklahoma to E.A.J. and Bessie (Coker) Duvall. She completed life's journey on Friday, May 14, 2021, with her family at her side at the age of 97.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 19, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at 10:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Whitt Funeral Home.

Marie graduated from Empire High School. She received her LPN from Red River Vo-Tech School. She married Alton Head "Junior" Burton, Jr. on June 23,1941, in Duncan.

She worked at many different places, starting at Duncan High School, Rosenfields, Abbie's, BG's, and finally as an LPN at the Duncan Hospital until her retirement. During this time, she took wonderful care of her two sons. She loved attending church and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. She loved being with her family and was a great cheerleader for them. Marie was a good Christian woman.

Marie is survived by her sons: Danny Burton of Comanche; Ron and wife, Jetta Burton, of Norman; grandchildren: Karen and husband, Bryan Smith, of Edmond; Danna and husband, David Folmnsbee, of Dallas; Ronna and husband, Matthew Schenk, of Leesburg, Virginia; Josh Burton of Weatherford; 11 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Duvall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; parents; brother, Odes Duvall; sisters: Amanda Barnes, Amer Bennett, Esther Forrester, Vern Bennett, and Frankie Selvidge; and 1 great grandchild.
