Martin William Sweat was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on January 7, 1946, to Claude and Eunice Sweat. He passed away in Oklahoma City, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 77.
A memorial service is planned for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 14, at Marlow Church of Christ. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Martin worked in maintenance for the Chickasaw Nation throughout his life. He loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop and working in the garage. Martin also enjoyed watching westerns, police shows, and OU football on television. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Sue (Abney) Sweat; his parents; and brothers: Troy Sweat and Weldon Sweat.
Survivors include his daughter, Cristi Steinke and husband Jerry; grandchildren, David Sweat and Clayton Sweat; great-grandchildren, Dayson Sweat and Baylee Sweat; brother, Calvin Sweat and wife Faye; and sister, Teresa Harris and husband Kenny.
