Mary King Obituary
Mary Estrada King was born February 19, 1946 in Houston, Texas to John Walters and Estrada Lily (Tindel) Woods. She passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at her home in Duncan with her family at her side. She was 76.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, June 3, at 2:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later time in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Mary attended from Duncan High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Cameron University. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years. She married James "Jim" Dewayne King on January 19, 1963 in Duncan. To their union, two children were born - Constance and James.
She enjoyed doing many things including shopping, garage sales, rock collecting, painting and quilting. She attended Thursday's Ladies Night Out. In high school she was a member of the Jolly Jills club. Mary was known for being a socialite and trend setter in Duncan. She will be remembered as always being happy. She spent 14 years in New Orleans, Louisiana and those years were the time of her life. She truly loved everything that New Orleans had to offer and she always wanted to move back there. She loved her cats and they were very important to her. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was known as "Moma King."
Mary is survived by her children: Constance King of Duncan and James Walters King and wife of Edmond; four 'chosen' daughters who helped complete her family; 4 grandchildren; and 14 'chosen' grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim King; brother, Johnny Woods; sister, Deanne Woods; and a sister by choice, Martha Watkins.
