Mary Louise Reading

Mary Louise (Costello) Reading was born November 5, 1938 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Thomas and Mary Juretta (Stone) Costello.  She went to be with Lord on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at her home in Norman.  She was 86.

A graveside service is planned for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 24, at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Ashlyn Woods, Katelyn Woods, Hailey Dorsett, Benjamin Stone, Daniel Stone, and Charlie Stone.

Mary graduated from Duncan High School in 1957.  She married and spent her younger years raising her family in Roswell, NM.  Mary enjoyed her social life and made numerous friends in the time she spent there.

In her later years, Mary returned to Oklahoma to be near her parents and family.  She worked as an Optician for many years and later became the House Mother for the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Costello, a brother, Thomas Costello, and her sister, DeLee McAlister.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Charles Reading aka Joseph Stone of Lawton, OK, Paula Reading of Norman, OK; and grandchildren: Ashlyn Woods, Katelyn Woods, Daniel Stone, Ben Stone, Charlie Stone, Rachel Reading, Johnathon Sprague, Joshua Sprague, Katie Dusthimer, and Ja’el Savage.  Other survivors include her brother, Michael Costello of Roswell, NM; and Kim and Ron Mahn of OKC, and Kevin Thompson of OKC; other relatives and friends.
