Mary West Obituary

Mary Catherine "Cathie" West passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Cathie is survived by her children, Greg Hudson (Christy) of Huntsville, Alabama, Shelley Rice (Bill) of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, and Steve Hudson (Dawn) of Cashion, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Kammi (Jay), Jaidyn, and Mary Abriella; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Easton, and Kamden. She is also survived by her brother, Michael West (Jackie) of Venice, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jimmy Bailey of Marlow, Oklahoma; her sister, Sheridan Durbin of Ontario, Ohio; her father, Harold West of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; and her mother, Helen West of Lynn Haven, Florida.

The family is especially grateful for the love and support of special friends Scott and Tonya, who helped make it possible for Cathie to remain at home and have her wishes honored during her final days.

One of Cathie's greatest joys was becoming a grandmother. When her first grandchild, Kammi, was born, she embraced her new role with enthusiasm and love. It was a blessing to watch her share special moments with Kammi, teaching her to appreciate good country music and how to host a proper tea party.

Cathie was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent much of her life caring for others. During the final 30 years of her career, she served at The Children's Center in Bethany, Duncan Regional Hospital, and a local nursing home, touching countless lives through her compassion and service.

Cathie was an absolute animal lover and was always talking about her fur babies: Blue, Little Bit, and Gypsy.

Above all, Cathie loved the Lord with all her heart. She was never shy about encouraging others to pray and to "get fully right with the Lord-not just part-way."

While we will deeply miss our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, we take comfort in knowing that she is healed, at peace, and finally home with the Lord.
