May Elizabeth Wainscott, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born December 19, 1925 at Empire, Oklahoma in the Magnolia Camp to Edward Frederick and Lillie May (McFarland) Christman. She passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the age of 97.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, May 18, at 2:00 P.M. at the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Leonard Keele officiating. Interment will be in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
May was baptized on October 19, 1941 by A.L. Harbin at the 14th and Main Church of Christ in Duncan. She attended school at Liberty and graduated from Duncan High School on May 20, 1943. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the band. She also graduated from Hills Business University in Oklahoma City on December 23, 1943. She worked for Halliburton 2-1/2 years before quitting when she married Charles Wainscott on September 19, 1946 at the same church she was baptized in and where both were members. Charles passed away December 13, 1983.
She was a charter member of the Duncan Chapter of Oklahoma Christian College Women's Association. She held most offices including President 1976-77. She was also a member of the Monday Study Club and the Hospital Auxiliary as an associate.
Among her survivors are two nieces: Denise Christman Delk and husband Vernon of Marlow, Ranae Williams of Duncan; two nephews: Keith Christman and wife Stephanie of Duncan, Larry Norman and wife Kathie of Walters; three great nephews: Frederick Earl Delk, Billy Norman, Clint Norman and wife Amy; other relatives; three special friends, Sarah Gregg, Amy Jacobi, Charles Gregg; and many other friends. May was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wainscott; parents; and brother, Fred Christman and wife Rosa.
