Mearl Kendall Obituary

On Sunday, December 19, 2021, Eddie Kendall passed from this old world to a place he had read about going to, where there is no sickness or pain, and is now healed, after fighting a battle with colon cancer. He was at his home in Kearney with the love of his life and two sons at his side.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Apache's First Pentecostal Holiness Church between 10:30AM and 12:00PM. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. at the church with Larry Thoma officiating, assisted by Caleb McDowell. Interment will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher, OK, under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Mearl Edward (Eddie) was the first of six children born to Mearl and Helen Kendall. That special day was August 31, 1950 at their home in Elgin, Oklahoma.

Eddie grew up in the Fletcher/Elgin area and attended school at Fletcher, graduating in 1969. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Elgin. Eddie grew up hunting dove and quail with his dad and uncles. He enjoyed going fishing with his grandpas. He learned to play the guitar and enjoyed playing in church and singing specials.

He met the love of his life, Jane Powers, in September 1969. They were married in June 1970 in Apache. They were blessed with two sons.

In March 1970, Eddie answered the call to serve his country and served 18 months in Hanau, Germany. After his tour ended Eddie and Jane returned to civilian life near Fletcher where they lived until he felt the call of God on his life. In 174 he began his Ministry with the Assemblies of God. He pastored churches in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri, and later with the Pentecostal Church of God. He loved reading the Bible and would read and study for hours. He was very knowledgeable about the Bible. He loved God with all his heart and did his best to live a life pleasing to God and according to the Bible. He loved his wife and family very much and enjoyed playing with his granddaughters.

Those left to cherish his memory and remember all the good times shared are the love of his life, Jane, his wife of 51 years; his son, Benjamin; his son, Robert and his wife Dawn; his granddaughters: Abby, Morgan, and Paige Bentley; his great granddaughter, Brinley; two brothers: Randall and Dianne Kendall of Fletcher, Jerry and Stephanie Kendall of Duncan; and two sisters: Brenda Braley of Chattanooga, Sandra and Larry Fehring of Apache.

Those who went on ahead were his parents, Mearl and Hele (Sharp) Kendall; sister, Patricia Helton; grandparents: Leo and Hettie (Mahan) Kendall, Edward and Flossie (Love) Sharp; parents-in-law, Harold and Lucy (Jones) Powers; and brother-in-law, Edward Braly.
