Melba Christine Van Hoozer, of Lawton, OK, was born October 30, 1932 at Central, OK to L.D. and Bernice (Booth) Cook. At the age of 93, she completed her earthly journey on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Duncan with her family at her side.
Funeral services are planned for 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 17, at Whitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.
Following her high school graduation and attending some college classes, Melba was employed as an account counselor in the banking/credit union industry. She was married to Billy Van Hoozer. Their family was completed with the births of two daughters, Jayna and LuAnn.
Melba loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of their activities. She especially loved attending family gatherings and she made sure everyone was fed. She enjoyed playing card games.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother and sister-in-law: Delbert and Sue Cook; daughter, LuAnn Dial; and great-grandchild, Jaden Jackson. Melba is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jayna and Bill Harden; grandchildren: Ryan Jay and Rebecca Dial, Jennifer and Chad Jackson; great-grandchildren: Gabrial, Logan, Savannah, and Noah Dial; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
