Michael Gene Whittington, 68, passed away at his home in Duncan, Oklahoma on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Michael was born on April 2, 1958, in Naples, Italy, to Austin and Billie (Williams) Whittington. He graduated from Del Valley High School with the Class of 1976 and went on to build a career in building maintenance, specializing in painting and drywall. For ten years, he worked for Robinson Management in Austin, where he took great pride in his work and enjoyed the relationships he built throughout his career.
On October 22, 1977, Michael married the love of his life, Joann Perry. Together they shared nearly 49 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters, Kelly and Sarah, who were the pride and joy of his life.
When he wasn't working, Michael found peace on the water, enjoying kayaking whenever he had the opportunity. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Billie Whittington, and his brother, Ricky Whittington.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Joann Whittington; daughters: Kelly Dawson and husband Tom of Texas, and Sarah Krkan and husband Anton of Australia; grandchildren: Mia Dawson, Austin Krkan, Braxton Krkan, Rocky Krkan, and Dalton Krkan; great-grandson, Asher Dawson; and his brother, Eddie Whittington, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
