Monte Meeke Obituary

Monte Edward Meeke was born April 9, 1958 in Burlington, Iowa to Cecil Roy and Shirley Jean (McCleary) Meeke. He passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 63.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 5, at 4:00PM at Whitt Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Allen officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Monte married Jeanette Zickefoose on November 26, 1983 at the Holy City near Lawton. He proudly served his country in both the Army/National Guard for over 20 years. He was honorably discharged in August 1996. He worked as a brick layer for Charles Biggs in Lawton and for Paul Campbell in Florida. He was currently employed at the Simmons Center where he had worked for 10 years.

He enjoyed fishing. He was an outgoing person and never knew a stranger. He was very patriotic and always had an American flag hung. He was a Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans fan. He loved eating boiled peanuts. Monte loved his family and enjoyed hanging out with his grandchildren.

Monte is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jeanette; four children: Liza Meeke of Colorado Springs, CO, Elisha and husband Jason Hill of Duncan, Cara DiMatteo of Pennsylvania, Thomas Grimes of California; nine grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Jeff and wife Patty Meeke of Cache; sisters: Melodee and husband Don Ellsworth of Duncan, Pam Pratt of Marlow, Michele and husband Mike Jackson of Lawton; brother-in-law, George Gray of Lawton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Deb McCubbin, Renee Gray; and father-in-law, Sterling Zickefoose.
