Olen Harrison Obituary

Olen Dale Harrison, 80, passed quietly into Heaven on November 10, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born April 6, 1941 in Bray, Oklahoma to Milton and Cecil (Webb) Harrison. He had two brothers, Milton Webb (Sonny) and Richard Elliot, as well as three sisters, Greta JoAnn, Earlena Joy and Alta Ruth.

Olen's going home celebration is scheduled for November 15, 2021 at 10:00am at The Christian Center, located at 720 East Plato Road, Duncan, Oklahoma, with Pastor James Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 14, between 2:00 and 4:00pm at Whitt Funeral Home.

Olen graduated from Marlow High School in 1959. He enlisted in the Army and went to basic training on August 28, 1961. After basic training he was stationed in Germany. He returned home in August of 1964. Not long after returning home, he married the love of his life, Katherine (Neal), on October 23, 1965. They have two children, Matthew Allen and Julia Ann. Also during this time, he became employed at Halliburton Services. He was hired as a machinist, retiring 35 years later as a Production Group Leader. Olen enjoyed his years at Halliburton making many lifelong friends. Olen was a versatile man. He enjoyed helping his son out over the years when he had his machine shop. In 2008, Olen assisted his son-in-law, Tim, in opening Oklahoma Superior Plating where he helped set up a plating line and worked off and on for 13 years.

Olen received Jesus as his Savior on his 14th birthday. He would share the love of Jesus with anyone who granted him an open door and even those who didn't. His salvation was a turning point in his life and he wanted to share with others what God could do for them. Olen enjoyed raising horses, spending time with family, and watching OU football.

Olen loved his grandchildren and spent time sharing life lessons and teachable moments with them. He was pleased with each one. Church was important to him. He attended The Christian Center in Duncan and enjoyed prayer every Sunday night until he was no longer able to be there. However, his faith remained steadfast. He loved Pastor James, his wife Sherrie and his entire church family.

Olen was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Milton Webb (Sonny), Richard Elliot, Greta JoAnn, Earlena Joy, and his niece, Nancy Kay Ward.
