Oscar Akins Obituary

Oscar David Akins passed away at home Monday, February 8, 2021. He was born July 29, 1946 in Alex, OK to Oscar Bernard and Jewell Lorene Akins.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 21, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 22, at 2:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating. Live streaming of the service will be available by going to Oscar's obituary at www.whittfh.com and following the link at the bottom. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery near Comanche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

When David was 2 or 3, they moved to Marlow, OK where he attended school until the 11th grade. His first job was working in Fletcher’s Bakery. His 2nd job was working at the Dr. Pepper Plant in Comanche. He also worked in the lumber business, the concrete mixer business, then he went onto to work in the oilfield business where he was a tandem rig up driver for 15 years. When he retired, he went to work for himself. He bought and sold cars, lawnmowers or anything he could sell for a dollar. He was an original picker. He enjoyed fixing lawnmowers most of all though. He married the love of his life, Myra Gail McCartney on March 3, 1966 and they had 3 daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Gail Akins; his daughters: Patricia Gayle Akins Cowan and husband Michael; Jeanie Ann Akins Green Cummings and husband Chuck; Belinda Kaye Akins Bardsher Sieminskie and husband David; grandsons: Derrick Green and wife Ashley; Mason Mann; Hayden Bardsher, Logan Sieminskie, Carcen Case Cummings; granddaughters: Ericka Danielle Green Cook; Caiti Sieminskie; Hope Lynn Cummings; Charlee Rheann Cummings; great grandson, Blayden Michael Cook; great granddaughters: Cambrey Jade Cook, Brenley Wayde Green; brothers: Jim Akins and wife Burt of Tecumseh; Glen Akins of Shawnee; and sisters: Sharon Kay Ferree of OKC; Mary Alexander of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Bernard Akins; mother, Jewell Lorene Akins; sister, Betty Lorene Akins Kingsley; and brother, Larry Don Akins.
