Paul Andrew Polk Obituary

Paul Andrew Polk Jr., 48, of Duncan, Oklahoma, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 9, 1977, in De Queen, Arkansas, to Paul Andrew Polk and Cheryl Polk.

Paul graduated from Broken Bow High School. On February 26, 2000, he married the love of his life, Shelly Byas, and together they raised their son, Tyler. Paul was deeply devoted to his family, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his wife and son.

Throughout his career, Paul worked as an oilfield fisherman for Titan Oil Tools and S and J Oil. He took great pride in his work and truly loved what he did.

Paul enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-fishing, washing his truck (every single day) and his wife's car, spending time at the cabins in Broken Bow, and riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides. Nothing made him happier than watching Tyler play baseball throughout high school and college; he beamed with pride at every game. He also delighted in surprising Shelly with thoughtful gifts, always wanting to make her smile. Paul cheered faithfully for the Kansas City Chiefs, Colorado Buffaloes, and the OKC Thunder, but his greatest devotion was always to the people he loved.

Paul was a great friend who loved supporting the people he cared about. He enjoyed watching Sawyer Rice, his close friend's son, play football and compete in track, and he loved cheering on another close friend's son, Tucker Oliver, in his MMA matches.

Paul will be remembered for his big heart, infectious smile, unwavering loyalty, his deep love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone blessed to know him. He was known for his random acts of kindness-offered freely to both those who knew him and those who didn't.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cheryl Gilliam; his grandparents, Essie Conway and husband Lucious Conway Sr., Oscar and Louida Gillam; and his great-grandmother, Laura Ayers and husband Willie Ayers Sr.

Paul is survived by his father, Paul Polk Sr.; his beloved wife, Shelly; his son, Tyler Polk, and wife Rachel; his brothers: Tameco Polk and Marlos Polk; his mother-in-law, Peggy Byas; his father-in-law, Jack Byas; his sister-in-law, Jana Rannberg and husband Dustin; and his nieces and nephews: Braeden Polk, Faith Polk, Navie Noah, Layla Blair, Addison Rannberg, and Christian Rannberg.

The family will receive visitors Friday, May 8, at Whitt Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 9, at Connection Church with pastor Mitch Boles officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery with Tyler Polk, Tameco Polk, Tony Wilkins, David Bingham, Lynn Bailey, Winston Rice, Jason Oliver, Chris Rowell, and Cameron Green serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Wiggins, David Sharrock, Micah Franklin, Ernesto Lopez, Logan Oliver, Tucker Oliver, Darren Bridges, Brennon Bartling, Dustin Rannberg, Caleb Patrick, Todd McDaniel, Ken Murphree, Christian Rannberg, Michael Taylor, and Shawn Calvin.
