Peggy Jean Barnes

Peggy Jean Eaves Barnes, age 81, of Duncan, OK, died on Monday, January 4, 2021. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Nurse and Friend.

She was born on January 16, 1939 in Martin, TN to Clarence and Ora Morgan Eaves. She married Billie Rae Stallings on January 30, 1956. They resided in Perryton, TX until he passed on May 27, 1968. She later married William Barnes in December of 1987. They resided in Duncan, OK.

She is survived by her four children: Dianna Stallings Laurel (David) of Houston, TX; Dee Dee Stallings Scott (Lewis); and Jon Stallings, all of Duncan; and Mattie Whiteman Kin (Joe) of Bartlesville; 10 grandchildren: Brooke Neeld, Lauren Neeld, Denna Poole (Andrew), Ashley Starry (Luke), Danna Altiok (Aybars), Emily Laurel, Leitasha Rodriguez (Dalton), Brad Scott, Hannah King, Landon King; and great grandchildren: Barrett and Lance Starry; Jayden Poole; Keizer, Izak and Brianna Griffin; Lincoln and Abraham Rodriguez. She is also survived by her sister, Russelene Baker of Martin, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Dillard, Jesse, Charlie and Thomas Eaves, Ruth Fitch and Joyce Jones; and husbands: Billie Rae Stallings and William Barnes.

Peggy was a registered nurse at Duncan Regional Hospital for 28 years. She retired in 2000. She was a parishioner at Assumption Catholic Church in Duncan. She enjoyed reading, quilting, painting, gardening, being in the sun, smoking her cigarettes, drinking Diet Coke, and cruising on her scooter. Peggy was so kind, witty and loving. She will be missed by many.

Services will be Saturday, January 9, at 2 PM at Whitt Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Scott officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Poole, Luke Starry, Dalton Rodriguez, Brad Scott, Landon King and Tony Griffin. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
