Peggy Lue Hedrick was born January 27, 1931 in Walters, Oklahoma to Raymond Richard and Erma Vetto (Rice) Smith. She completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her home in Duncan. She was 90.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 21, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 22, at 2:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Hedrick, Brad Hedrick, Rand Foster, Buzz Carter and Porter Biffle. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry David, Dick Greenwood and Marcell Gigger. Interment will follow at Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Peggy graduated in 1949 from Comanche High School. She married Bill A. Hedrick on December 25, 1947 at Corum. To this union, two sons - Bill and Terry - were born. Bill preceded her in death on February 6, 2009 after just over 61 years of marriage.
She was employed as the Assistant Librarian at Duncan High School for many years. She was a passionate reader. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her friends. Peggy loved to organize; she was involved in organizing the Cotton County Historical Society. She also assisted with the organization of many high school reunions for the Comanche '49'ers. She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
Peggy is survived by her children: Bill Allen and wife Diana Hedrick and Terry Lynn and wife Wendy Hedrick, all of Duncan; grandchildren: Bryan Hedrick, Jenna Hedrick Foster and husband Rand of Edmond, and Brad Hedrick; great grandchildren: Fysher, Hunter, Brooke, Kale, Brody, Lori, and Blake; great great grandchildren: Waylon and Kaden; sister: Devonna Perryman; and sister-in-law, Nita Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents; great grandchild, David Lynn; sisters, Alice Goforth, Lois Smith and Jeanne Bullock; and brother, "Dickie" Smith.
