Laverne Raybelle Perkins, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born to M.H. Weaver and Ora Lee (Cosper) Weaver in Porum, Oklahoma on March 5, 1932. She completed her earthly journey on Thursday, May 12, 2022, with her family at her side. She was 90.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 15, between 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Services are planned for Monday, May 16, at 10:00 A.M. at Bethesda Church of God with Pastor Johnny Gray officiating, assisted by Pastor Harold Metheny. Pallbearers will be Jeff Briscoe, Ryan Atwell, Craig Perkins, Weston Hargus, Jerry Morgan, and Mike Gullett; honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie White, Jim Green, Ray Tilley, Harley Files, and Kenneth Thomas. Interment will follow at the Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Raybelle attended school at Morris Public Schools. It was there that she met the love of her life, Earl Perkins, at a high school basketball game, introduced by a friend. They knew each other two weeks and that turned in to a marriage on March 27, 1948. That marriage lasted for 74 years. What started as a couple grew to a family of seven with the births of their five children: Cheryl, Dwayne, Terry, Debbie, and Donna. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Bethesda Church of God where she sang for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dwayne Perkins; sons-in law: Bobby D. Briscoe, Glen Wilkinson; grandson, Terry Mark Hargus; sister, Evelyn Homan; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Doyle Weaver and wife Jewell, Melvin Weaver and wife Kathlyn, Elbert Weaver, Delbert Weaver.
Raybelle is survived by her husband, Earl, of the home; daughters: Cheryl and husband David Atwell of Duncan, Terry Briscoe of Cyril, Debbie Wilkinson of Duncan, Donna and husband Mark Hargus of Cement; grandchildren and their spouses: Kelli and Brien Brown, Ryan and Jenny Atwell, Jana and John Strand, Craig and Michelle Perkins, Jeff and Candice Briscoe, Jennifer and Ty Carlson, Kara Henderson, Kyla and Josh Herndon, Kaci and Malachi Martin, Summer and Gary Smith, Weston and Kalie Hargus; 24 great grandchildren plus 1 on the way; 5 great great grandchildren plus 1 on the way; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Weaver of Midwest City.
