Raymond "Ray" Smith Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Eugene Smith was born January 8, 1953 in St. Augustine, Florida to Raymond Steven and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Smith. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 17, 2022, near Terral, Oklahoma at the age of 69.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 22, at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Duncan, OK, with his son, Bishop Alexander Smith, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.

Ray graduated from Bunnell High School (Florida) with the Class of 1971. He also attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah where he received an associate's degree. On January 3, 1978, he married Jennifer Dahl in Montgomery County, Maryland. To their union, five children - Zachary, Jessica, Alexander, Eli, and Austin - were born.

He loved ranching and ranched in Texas and Oklahoma for over 40 years. He also enjoyed working with and raising cutting horses. He was a people person who loved to tell stories. Ray loved his family dearly.

Ray is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jennifer; children: Zachary Smith of Austin, Texas; Jessica Smith of Lockhart, Texas; Alexander and wife Emily Smith of Ryan, Oklahoma; Eli and wife Shayla Smith also of Lockhart; Austin and wife Dana Smith of Dillon, Montana; grandchildren: Jason Smith, Eric Smith, Caroline Smith, Adelaide Smith, Evelyn Smith, Charlotte Smith; brother, Sam and wife Kim Smith of Flagler Beach, Florida; and sister, Margaret Ann Wilson of Palm Coast, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Robert McCort and Buck McCort.
