Retha Jo Boren

Retha Jo Boren, 77, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Beecher Boren and Bertha Christine Boren (Reeves); her brother, John Vernon Boren; and her brother-in-law, Edwin Doty.

Retha is survived by her children: Brenda Boren of Lexington, Oklahoma; Donald Vickery and his wife, Shelley, of Cache, Oklahoma; Rebecca Graham of New Mexico; Stephen Thornton Sr. of Wilburton, Oklahoma; and Tannaz Rouhani and her husband, Rich, of Arizona.

She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Doty and Jennifer Williams, and her husband Lonnie; her grandchildren, Shay Vickery of Fort Worth, Texas; Race Vickery of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Stephen Thornton Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Alyssa Kedra of Arizona; four great-grandchildren; seven nieces; one nephew; 10 great-nephews; and seven great-nieces.

Retha will be remembered by her family, her caretakers at Elk Crossing in Duncan, and all those whose lives she touched. Though distance and circumstances separated family members over the years, she remained connected to them through shared memories and family ties.

A memorial service will be held on October 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. at The Duncan United Pentecostal Church, located at 1015 W. Plato Rd., Duncan, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
