Rex Dean Thompson, 72, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. He was born November 19, 1953, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Harold and Betty (Spann) Thompson.

Rex graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1972. He went on to build a long and dedicated career as a meter technician with Oklahoma Natural Gas, where he was known for his reliability, work ethic, and easygoing nature.

Outside of work, Rex found joy in simple things that made life rich. He loved fishing, playing racquetball, watching sports and movies, and most of all, spending time with his family.

On June 20, 1997, Rex married the love of his life, Rita Fennell, in Eureka Springs. Together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and deep companionship.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Darrell Thompson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his children: Christopher Dean Thompson of Guthrie, OK, Alex Dean Thompson of Duncan, and Austin Darex Thompson and wife Micha of Okinawa, Japan; stepson, Michael Shannon Wallace of Tulsa; two cherished grandchildren; and his brother, Dennis Thompson.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the friends and family who visited, called, and supported them over the past few months. Your kindness brought comfort during a difficult time, and they are deeply grateful.
