Richard was a happy, jolly person and it transferred to everyone around him. He attended Bristow (Oklahoma) public schools. He loved listening to music, especially by old country music artists such as Buck Owens, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, and the list continues to go on. He also loved pictures and had many in his room. He enjoyed watching the game shows Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right. He loved dining out eating catfish and shrimp at Bill's, chicken and steak at Chuckwagon BBQ and Wright's Steakhouse. He didn't care much for green beans. Coffee was his favorite beverage to drink. He was fascinated by anything mechanical such as clocks and lights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Vickie Sterling; and niece, Jamie Haley.
Richard is survived by his brothers: Jon and wife Connie Sterling of Oklahoma City; Dan Sterling of Duncan; Paul and wife Christi Sterling of Pilot Point, Texas; aunt, Reba Harding of Pawnee; nephews and nieces: Richard Sterling, Timmy Sterling, Terry Haley, Michael Cone; great nieces and nephews: Layne Haley, Jaime Haley, Logan Glenn Haley, Michael “Bumpy” Cone, Landon Kitchen, and Adelynd Jane Kenmore.
