Rita LaVerne Savage, of Inverness, Florida, was born November 24, 1947 in Duncan, Oklahoma to G.T. "Shorty" Swanson and Lillie Irene Mitchell-Swanson. She completed her earthly journey on July 6, 2021, in Ratliff City with her family by her side. She was 73.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, from 5-6:30 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, July 9, at 2:00 P.M. in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
She graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1966. She married the love of her life, Phillip Wesley Savage, on April 25, 1969 at Wichita Falls, Texas. Rita was employed at Halliburton for 27 years as a telecommunications operator.
Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to all of her family. She was outgoing and would help anyone who needed it. She always made everyone feel welcome and was a very caring, loving person.
Preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Joe and Zora Savage; and step granddaughter, Valerie West, Rita is survived by her husband of 52 years, Phillip; son, Greg and wife Michelle Savage of LaCombe, LA; grandchildren: E. Greigh Savage, P. Rhedd Savage, and W. Kohl Savage; step grandchildren: Lily West and Mia West; brothers: Wayne and wife Sherry Swanson, Gary and wife Martha Swanson; sister, Thelma and husband Robert Warner; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
