Robert Russell Obituary
Robert Walker Russell was born June 29, 1935 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Kenneth Roy and Willie Ruth (Clark) Russell. He passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his home in Duncan with his loving family at his side. He was 86.
A come-and-go Celebration of Life is planned for Thursday evening, August 26, from 5-7 P.M. in the visiting hall at Whitt Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Robert attended Oklahoma A&M where he received an Associate's degree in Fire Protection. He was employed as a casualty insurance regional manager. Serving as a fire inspector for new construction, he worked for several insurance companies. He retired in 1988.
He loved airplanes and trains. He was always willing to fly with his brother anytime. He was fascinated with anything mechanical that had wheels, engines or wings. An avid reader, Robert was also a great storyteller. For many years he served as the manager of the local pool league and was responsible for organizes all of their tournaments. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Society of Safety Engineering. He had a very big heart and loved his children, grandchildren and animals.
Robert is survived by his children: Robert Mark Russell and wife Laura, John Randall Russell, Paula Jean Russell Gary, Sean Russell, Billibeth Wilson, and Matt Wilson and wife Maggie; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Norma Jean Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Jean Farris Russell and Pat Humphries Russell; and brothers, Kenneth Richard Russell and John William Russell.
