Robert "Bob" Aldridge Obituary
Robert Lee Aldridge was born July 13, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri to Charles Franches and Mabel Edna (Aggus) Aldridge. He passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the age of 76.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 9, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Waurika, Oklahoma with Pastor Curtis Plant officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.
Bob was a 1962 Andrew Hill High School graduate in San Jose, California and then attended San Jose City College four years participating in the Sheet Metal technical program. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for A&A Sheet Metal Shop before being elected as a Business Representative for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 309 and 104, serving the industry for a total of 22 years. He and Barbara owned the Waurika Marina for nine years from 1991 to 2000. Water skiing was his passion and his jet boat was his pride and joy. He loved to go camping. He also enjoyed taking care of his cattle.
He married Barbara Thene Davis on September 10, 1967 in San Jose. Two children - Shawn Kevin and Jennifer Lee - were born. Family was important; everything he did was for his children and grandchildren. He taught them all how to water ski. One of the greatest things he loved to do was watch his grandsons and Roxy play football! He was their biggest fan and you could always hear him cheering for them in the stands.
Bob sat on the City Council of Waurika. He enjoyed mowing grass and blowing leaves as his lawn had to be perfect. He had also served as music leader in San Jose, as well as the Waurika First Christian Church where he was a member.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Scott Cathey; brothers: Frank and Jack; and sisters: Delores, Dorothy, Janice and Judy.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; children: Shawn Kevin and wife Jennifer Aldridge and Jennifer Lee Cathey; grandchildren: Taylor Austin Aldridge, Mackenzie Renee Aldridge, Douglas Sage Cathey and fiancée Ciara Nicole Johnson, Robert Seth Cathey, Davis Slade Cathey, and Roxy Jayden Shawn Cathey; brothers: Benjamin Aldridge of Eugene, Oregon; Dale and wife Helen Aldridge of Springfield, Oregon; Jim Wayland Davis of Haslet, Texas; sisters: Carol Wheeler of Bandon, Oregon and Diane Grijalva of Denton, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
