Obituary

Robert "Bob" Joe Ballard, of Marlow, Oklahoma, was born November 3, 1938 in Copan, Oklahoma to Larry and Vivian (Davis) Ballard. He passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 83.

A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, at 11:00AM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin with a chaplain officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Marine Corp. Military honors will be presented by the Marine Corp Color Guard and the Patriot Guard Riders. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Bob graduated from Bartlesville (OK) High School. He received his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University and his Master's Degree in History from Eastern New Mexico University. He joined the US Marine Corp in August 1958 and was honorably discharged in August 1962, having received a Good Conduct Medal during his service years. On January 23, 1965 he married the love of his life, Lois Kay Hollopeter, at her family's farm in northern Oklahoma.

He was employed in both New Mexico and Oklahoma as a history teacher and basketball coach. After his retirement, he enjoyed doing his yardwork and watching westerns on television. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by his parents and son, Lance Garrison Ballard, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lois; grandchildren: Tylor Ballard, Preston and wife Aidyn Ballard; and brother, Larry Ballard.
