Rod Gilbert Obituary
Rod Allen Gilbert was born June 5, 1962 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Jon Abe Gilbert and Corine (Bell) McMechan. He completed his earthly journey and met his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 28, 2025, at his home in Duncan. He was 62.
The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, April 1, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 2, at 1:00 P.M. at Freedom Biker Church with C. D. Suitor officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery with Josh Linker, Ethan Mann, Charles Roland, Byron Cooper, Jack Whitt, and Marc Brock serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffery Gilbert, Miles Gilbert, Jason Lambert, Steven Lake, Casey Dyer, and Tristan Dyer.
Rod graduated from Empire High School with the Class of 1980. While in high school, he loved to play baseball. He attended college at East Central University in Ada, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, and Cameron University in Lawton. He was employed as an overseas frac operator for Halliburton Energy Services. He married Billie Corine 'Corie' Dyer on July 31, 2010 in Duncan.
Motorcycle riding was a passion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and OSU football. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rod is survived by his wife of 15 years, Corie; four children: Erica and husband Jason Klutts of Duncan, Megan and husband Lee Herring of Broken Bow, Kelli Jo and husband Michael Morgan of Comanche, Lane Allen Gilbert of Lawton; and four grandchildren: Aubrey Grace Vineyard, Zaileigh Rightmire, Ryker Vineyard, and Rais'lyn Klutts. He is also survived by his brother, Todd and wife Janet Gilbert of Velma; his sister, Ki and husband Kevin Whitt of Norman; godchildren: Josh Linker, Lawton, and Emilia Linker, Texas; and bonus god-grandchild, Rae'lyn Linker.
