Ronnie Darnell Tyner was born July 17, 1958 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Louins L. and Avis Excell (Nero) Tyner. He passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in Oklahoma City at the age of 64.
The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, May 16, between 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Services are planned for Wednesday, May 17, at 11:00 A.M. at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Henderson-Harris Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Ronnie graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1976. He received his Bachelor's degree from Cameron University in Lawton. He was employed as a maintenance painter. He loved to fish and watch sports. He also played the drums. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was known to be an artist. He enjoyed fixing things and was called Mr. Fix-It. Dressing sharp was important to him and his family would call him "GQ and Favorite Cousin." He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends. Ronnie was always the life of the party. He believed and confessed that Jesus is Lord at a young age and was a member of the Antioch Church.
He married Sheila Hunt in Duncan on June 8, 1985. Their family was made complete with the birth of their son, Ronnie L. Tyner Jr.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheila; son, Ronnie; sister, Theopal Tyner-Morgan; a "twin nephew", Donnie Ronnell Grovey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Louins L. Tyner Jr., Alva Wayne Tyner; and sister, Bobbye Grovey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Talton, Larry Culberson, Dennis Canfield, Dana Greer, John Blunt, and Ronnie L. Tyner Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Fugett, Michael Fugett, Donnie Grovey, Steve Bruner, Greg Bruner, Kevin Boyd, Rev. Lee Bruner, Quinn Grovey, and Reggie Grovey. His nieces will serve as flower girls.
