Shirley Mosley Obituary

Shirley Louise Mosley was born May 13, 1926, to William James and Nellie Myers Wilkinson in Oklahoma City, OK. Shirley passed away April 13, 2022, in Marlow, OK at the age of 95. She was a devoted wife and mother, putting her faith and family above all. Shirley attended Southard High School near Okeene, OK prior to her family relocating to Oklahoma City where she met and wed R.L. “Curtis” Wilkinson. They were married 37 years and spent most of their lives in Duncan, OK where Curtis was employed by Halliburton Oil Field Services. She enjoyed homemaking, being a Girl Scout leader, painting ceramics and still life, playing various instruments, listening to music, and being outdoors. Shirley and Curtis loved traveling, camping, gardening, and raising their three children: Billy, Beverly, and Kevin.

Shirley graduated from OK College for Women in Chickasha, OK, in May 1963 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She loved teaching First and Third grades at multiple elementary schools in Duncan, regaling friends and family with comical stories of her experiences. She was a keen world traveler, completing 15 cruises and visiting many European countries, Canada, Central America, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and sites throughout all 50 U.S. states. She once traveled on a Concorde jet to Europe.

Shirley was a life-long member of Duncan area Churches of Christ and was devoted to living a Christian, Bible-based life. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Marion Hare and Patty Wilkinson; three husbands: R.L. Wilkinson, Charles Fitzgerald, and Billy Mosley; and two children: Billy Wilkinson and Beverly Scott. Shirley is survived by son Kevin Wilkinson (Cheryl), Duncan, OK; sister Jonetta Bryan, Oklahoma City, OK; brother Dennis Wilkinson, Las Vegas, NV; two step-sons, Kenneth and Eddie Fitzgerald, Comanche, TX; two step-daughters, Debbie Daugherty (Robert), Granbury, TX; and Patricia Southerland, Tulsa, OK; brother-in-law David Wilkinson, Texarkana, TX; former daughter-in-law Karen Kriner, Plano, TX; former son-in-law Patrick Scott (Joyce), Duncan, OK; former daughter-in-law Becky Wilkinson, Houston, TX; six grandchildren: Stephen Wilkinson (Angela), Plano, TX; Amy Kirby, Oklahoma City, OK; Christy Hall (Jason), Norman, OK; Benjamin Scott (Misty), Lewisville, TX; Lanna Barajas (Mike), Houston, TX; Nathan Wilkinson, Houston, TX; thirteen great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved.

Shirley was a beautiful, graceful, and multi-talented lady who leaves a legacy of unconditional love, kindness, and quiet strength. She had many friends over the years and was always happy to entertain more. Our family would like to thank all of the doctors, the Kindful Hospice team, the nurses and staff at Gregston’s Nursing Home, and others who respected and served her every need. Each of you was a blessing to Shirley and to our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or Eastside Church of Christ, 202 N.
