Shirley Rolen, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Austin, Texas, on July 21, 2026. She was born on September 21, 1935, in Marlow, Oklahoma.
On May 6, 1954, Shirley married the love of her life, Alvin, in Gainesville, Texas. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love in Cyril, Oklahoma. Shirley was an active member of the Church of Christ, where her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She enjoyed working at the local school, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and caring nature. She also had a passion for baking and was happiest when sharing homemade treats and meals with family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin; her son-in-law, Duke; and her brother, Jimmy.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda; her granddaughter, Megan, and her husband, Nathan; her cherished great-grandsons: Ethan, Dylan, and Nolan; her son, David, and his wife, Varina; her grandson, Brannon, and his wife, Jacqueline, along with their children: Emma and Drew; her grandson, Rustin; her sisters: Susie, Snooks, and June; her brother, Joe; her very special nephew, Scott, his wife, Samantha, and their daughter, Charlotte; as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family. Her kindness, generosity, and servant's heart touched everyone who knew her.
A graveside service celebrating Shirley's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Though she will be deeply missed, Shirley's family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, Alvin, and that her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
