Tommy Ellis Martindale, 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in Duncan.
At the family's request cremation has taken place with no services scheduled at this time. Cremation and all other arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Tommy was born December 14, 1941, to William Clinton Martindale and Virginia Wessymarie (Puryear) Martindale. He was served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam and took great pride in being a Vietnam Vet. He worked as a machinist for Halliburton for more than 33 years before retiring. Tommy married Patsy Jane Moss in Waurika on April 15, 1966; they were married for 54 wonderful years before his passing.
Tommy, or Little Rattler as most knew him by, enjoyed hunting rattlesnakes and was involved with the Rattlesnake Festival for more than 27 years as well as being a chairman. He made lots of friendships through the Rattlesnake Festival that he dearly cherished, due to he had never met a stranger. Tommy enjoyed sleeping in his recliner and could be found there often just catching a small catnap in the afternoon if he wasn't golfing. He loved to cook especially BBQ for his family that he loved to spend time with. Tommy served in the community in the Waurika Jaycees for 15 years, as well as the Waurika Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Patsy Martindale of the home, two daughters, Christy Janeen Harris and husband Matthew of Duncan, Lisa Ellen McCurdy and Michael of Duncan, a grandson, Trevor Anthony McCurdy, two brothers, Eddie Martindale and wife Shirley of Gainesville, Texas, Curtis Dale Grimes of Grandsaline, Texas, and three sisters, Alice Faye Brown of Gainesville, Texas, Marietta Poage of Ryan, Oklahoma, and Melissa Yarbrough of Tuscola, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three sisters, Betty Green, Virginia Lou Grimes, and Sharon Allen.
