Velma Lee Price

Velma Lee Price was born in Postoak, Texas, on October 18, 1927 to Joseph William and Sally Pearl (Gifford) Schmittou. She passed away on October 30, 2023, in Marlow at the age of 96.

The family will receive visitors at Whitt Funeral Home on Thursday, November 2, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A funeral service is planned for 10:00 A.M, Friday, November 3, at Eastside Church of Christ with Ron Stough officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Truce Cemetery located at 15505 State Hwy 59, in Bowie, Texas, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

After graduating from Postoak High School, Velma married Delbert Price on February 2, 1946. They were married for 57 years when Delbert preceded her in death. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening and fishing, especially with Delbert. Velma was a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed cooking and having her family over for meals. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting those still in Postoak whenever she could.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; son, Roger Price; daughter, Kathy Weedn; granddaughter, Tina Myers; brothers, Virgil Schmittou and Weldon Schmittou; and sisters, Gladys Haley and Cammie Woods.

She is survived by her grandsons, Jeremy Price and Bart McClenny; great-grandchildren: Tessa Carson, Lilly Graham, Abbi Tipton, Paisli Price, Kole Young; great-great-grandchildren: Merrick Carson and Scarlett Carson; and daughter-in-law, Gale Price.
