Virgel Dale Piercy was born in Martha, Oklahoma, on November 3, 1943, to Virgel Lee Piercy and Frances "Irene" (Powers) Pyle. He passed away in Duncan on March 17, 2020, with his family by his side. He was 76.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, March 23, at 11:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Smith officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.
Virgel was a 1962 graduate of Duncan High School. He was married to Patricia Wade Dill for 32 years during which time their 4 children were born. He retired from Halliburton after 30 years. He operated Virgel's Handyman Service for 20 years. Virgel married Etty Sanusi in Jakarta, Indonesia in December of 1997.
He traveled the world through his job. He enjoyed watching westerns and golf. He loved to have "Meat Fest" Christmas Eve mornings with his children. He was known as the beef jerky maker and everyone would get beef jerky in their Christmas stockings. Virgel loved to work. He installed sunroofs in his kid's cars. He was also known as PaPa.
Virgel is survived by his wife, Etty; his children: Jim Piercy, Karen Morris and husband Ryan, Steven Piercy, Missie McCarley, step-children Louise Lestari Wi Gunadi, and Andrie Wisnu; grandchildren: Jack Morris, Jacob McCauley, Dr. Cameron Piercy and wife Twila, step-grandchildren Gloria Angelina Putri, Alicia Azharra, Dean Alfarizi, Anaya; great grandchild, Austin Piercy; sisters, Donna Sue Cosino and husband Samuel and Ronda Piercy-Johnson and husband James; sisters-in-law: Sheila Piercy and Earlene Piercy; and uncle and best friend, Ray Powers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Lee Piercy and Bobby Ray Piercy; and sister, Sharon Myers.
