Wallace Lysle Mooney

Wallace Lysle Mooney started his earthly journey on January 14, 1932, in Duncan to Walter Scott and Callie Belle (Cross) Mooney. He met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, with his loving family by his side in Duncan. He was 88 years old.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 24, at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Davison officiating assisted by Pastor Brian Holland. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

Wallace attended school in Duncan. He married Doris June Harrel on September 22, 1953, at Henrietta, Texas. Three children – Otis, Lysle and Rhetta – were born to this 66 year marriage.

He worked as an appliance serviceman for Edwards Home Furnishings for 24 years before retiring to do the Lord’s work. He loved his Lord and was a true Christian servant, working at Immanuel whenever he was needed including the bus ministry and church functions. He assisted with the team who moved the 905 train to Fuqua Park. He loved to go camping, especially at Humphrey Lake. Wallace was known for his big hugs and told the kids that he loved them.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Doris; children: Otis Eugene and wife Jodi of Oklahoma City; Lysle and wife Lisa Mooney of Bella Vista, AR; and Rhetta and husband Terry Russell of Duncan; grandchildren: Melissa Mooney, Kristen and husband Terrill Standifer, Caleb Mooney, Kenzee Russell; great grandchildren: Maisey Mooney, Aiden Mooney, Ruby Standifer, Noah Standifer; and sister, Pat and husband Bobby Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Scott Mooney; brothers, Rudy Mooney, Otis Mooney, Junior Mooney; and sisters Dortha Chapman and Lena Kennedy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Taliaferro, Terry Walker, Loren Swor, Kevin Stewart, Mark Spradlin and Paul McCormick. His Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
