Walter Lee Posey Jr. was born June 18, 1954 in Decatur, Texas to Walter and Annabelle (Younts) Posey. At the age of 71 he completed his earthly journey on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with his family at his side at his home in Duncan, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Walter's Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 2:30 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel.

Walter graduated from Central High School where he played basketball. Walter attended Cameron University in Lawton where he received an Associate's degree in Electronics. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Karen Slate. Together they raised their children - Jennifer and Jared.

He worked at Holiday Bowl for 15 years, prior to becoming a self-employed carpenter for 40+ years. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers in Broken Bow with his friends and loved going deer hunting with his dad. He looked forward to his daily Dr. Peppers and snacks. Walter was also an enthusiastic classic car fan.

Walter is survived by his wife of 49+ years, Karen; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ben VanNess; son, Jared Posey; four grandchildren: Josslyn Avey, Lawson Avey, Kinley VanNess, Leighton VanNess; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerold Vaughn; and sister, Shirley Rodgers.
