Wanda Lou Bowen was born on November 27, 1932 in Central to Roy Frank and Mattie Lee (Patterson) Loughridge. She passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021 at her home in Duncan at the age of 89.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Marlow Cemetery with Pastor Brian Holland officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan.
Wanda graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1950. Later that year, Wanda married the love of her life, Bill Bowen on June 1, 1950 in Central. For many years, Wanda worked as a CMA at the Gregston's Nursing Home in Marlow. She had a love for gardening and always has beautiful flowers as well as a magnificent yard. Wanda was passionate about University of Oklahoma football and a huge Thunder basketball fan. She enjoyed fishing and reading and just over all had a surprisingly adventurous spirit. Wanda loved her grandchildren dearly as well as her special loved dachshund, Betsy.
Wanda is survived by her two grandchildren: Kelli Simpson and husband Robert of Norman; Stacy Stephenson and husband Mike of Empire; three great grandchildren: Hayden Stephenson; Mikayla Stephenson; Ash Simpson; two brothers: Bill Loughridge and wife Sue of Duncan; Bob Loughridge and wife Mikey of McKinney, TX; a sister, Marcy Alexander and husband Rueben of Duncan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Bowen; and a daughter, Barbara Miller.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Wanda's honor to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
