Wayne Fort Obituary

Joe Wayne Fort was born May 28, 1941, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Billy Joe and Mabel (Sanmann) Fort. He went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the age of 83.

Viewing will be available on Monday, February 24, at Crews Funeral Home from 11am-5pm. A funeral service is planned for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 25, at The Church of Living Faith Christian Center with Pastor Lois Snodgrass and Baxter Asepermy officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home with Isaiah Tehauno, Keldon Wheeler, Eric Turpin, Draven Turpin, Brian Stillwell and Comanche Nation Transit co-worker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Turpin, Eddie Morse, Michael Wirtz, Rudy Glover, Tommy Thompson, Terry Felan, Baxter Asepermy, and many co-workers and friends at Comanche Nation Transit.

Wayne graduated from Geronimo High School in 1960. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his time fishing, hunting and golfing, as well as attending the Lawton Speedway races. Wayne also loved to spend time with his family. His faith, however, was the most important thing in his life. He loved the Lord, and he loved his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joel Tehauno; and a granddaughter, Lacey Garrett.

Those left to remember his legacy of love and faith are his wife of 30 years, Janis of Apache, OK; children: Deborah Garrett and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, OK, Brenda Fort of Prague, OK, Shanna Tehauno of Chickasha, OK, Allene Goad of Cement, OK; grandchildren: Isaiah Tehauno, Brandon Wyatt, Shaylea Smith, Keldon Wheeler, Dakota Wheeler, Jeremy Wheeler Jr., Bodie Garrett; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
