Wayne Jones Obituary

Wayne Lee Jones, of Marlow, Oklahoma, was born June 29, 1947 in Independence, Missouri to Oral F. and Nellie M. (Looker) Jones. He passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, with his wife at his side in Duncan. He was 75.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, September 2, at 11:00 AM at Whitt Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery at Elgin, Oklahoma that afternoon at 1:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Army as a Crew Chief on a Chinook helicopter during the Vietnam War. He later became a welder and locomotive mechanic for Santa Fe Railroad. He volunteered as a firefighter and EMT in Miriam, Kansas for 19 years until he retired from the Railroad. After retiring, he moved to Oklahoma and went to school to become a paramedic. As a paramedic, he met Deborah Sue Benson and they later married on August 6, 1994. He loved hanging out and spending all his time with his son, Cory. He enjoyed hiking, biking and working on the house and cars. He also was a foster parent, another position he loved to hold.

Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters, Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; six children: Kyle Ayers, Matthew Ayers, Cory Jones, Damian Jones, Brian Jones, and Destiny Jones; two special children: Fayth Olsen and Clayton Howard; and seven grandchildren: Hayden Ayers, Skyler Ince, Tristan Ince, Allyssa Ayers, Serenity Ayers, Dean Jones, and Aiden Beutler.
