William Charles "Chuck" Waters, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was born February 10, 1943, in Oklahoma City.
A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be held in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan on April 15th, at 1:00 P.M.
Chuck graduated from Marlow High School, the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and received the Hospital Administration certification from the University of Minnesota. He also served in the Army Reserves. Charles married Susan Warren on January 23, 1965, in Marlow.
Charles enjoyed his almost 40-year career in hospital administration. He began his career at Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton, Kansas in 1972. After seeing a duplication of medical services because of the two hospitals, he managed to merge the hospitals. Shortly thereafter, he and the board of directors, the doctors and the community built Newton Medical Center. He served in Newton for 31 years. He then moved to Ponca City where he was the CEO of Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center for 4 years. After Via Christi sold the hospital, he spent the last 4 years of his career in Hoisington, Kansas as the CEO of Clara Barton Hospital. He loved every hospital and every employee dearly. He was awarded many outstanding honors by the Kansas Hospital Association, but what meant the most to him was the people he worked with and the service they together provided. He truly loved his career and his family. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation and the First Nazarene Church of Wichita, Kansas.
He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports of all kinds.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan; his daughter, Stacy Dickerson and husband Scott, of Wichita, Kansas; his sister, Kay Gatlin and husband Ric, of Marlow; his brother-in-law, Bill Warren and wife Karen, of Cleveland, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Deane Waters.
Memorial contributions can be made in Chuck's name to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047, or in care of Whitt Funeral Home, 3720 N. Highway 81, Duncan, OK 73533.
