Wilma Hazel Brooks

Wilma Hazel Brooks was born July 26, 1940 in LuVerne, Alabama to Teema and Aline (Chesser) Rogers. She completed her earthly journey on Monday, June 20, 2022, at her home near Anadarko, Oklahoma. She was 81.

Services are scheduled for Friday, June 24, at 10:00 A.M. at Midway Baptist Church (Cyril, OK) with Bro. Robert Bohn officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Russell, Davy Russell, Joshua Jernigan, Joe Spencer, Clifford Scott, and Clayton Scott. Interment will follow at Cyril's Celestial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Cyril Funeral Home.

Working at a job she loved, Wilma was a rural letter carrier for the US Postal Service for approximately 15 years. She loved the Lord and was very active in her church. She also taught Sunday School. Her pride and joy was her family; she loved them dearly and took good care of them. She loved to cook and could make the best fried chicken and cube steak. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping (she knew how to pack gear in a camper.) She also loved to travel and visit thrift stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: James Douglas Jernigan and Marion Al Brooks; brother, Rex Rogers; sisters, Jeanette Haire and Patricia McRae; and nephew, Skip Rogers.

Wilma is survived by her children: Debra Baker of Del City, Cynthia and Roy Russell of Gracemont, James "Dennis" Jernigan of Anadarko; grandchildren: Ani Neo, Rachel Voigtschild, Davy Russell and fiance Chandra, Meghann L. Russell, Joshua Jernigan; great grandchildren: Reese Russell, Keelie Allen, Nugget Russell, Shy-Anne Shebester; many nieces and nephews, brothers: Billy Ray Rogers and Bubba Godwin; sisters: Carol Bees, Billie Jean Coker and Lisa Kaye Sexton; and sisters-in-law, Lenor Nations, Vera, and Viola.
